Ticket to Ride Rules

The Objective

  • The game end is triggered when a player has 0-2 trains left after their turn, all other players including this player gets one last turn.
  • Player with the most points wins the game. Calculate score in the following way:
    1. Add completed Destination ticket points.
    2. Subtract Destination ticket points for unfinished Destination tickets.
    3. Add 10 points for the longest continuous route.
  • If tied, the longest continuous route is the tie breaker.
  • Quick Setup

  • Train car cards: 4 per player, and then place 5 face up in the play area next to the board.
  • Destination tickets: 3 per player, players must keep at least 2, and able to discard 1 if desired.
  • Critical Notes

  • Grey/uncolored squares allow a set of trains of any one color to be used.
  • In 2-3 player games, the double routes must be treated as single routes (only one of two lanes may be used).
  • Actions

Perform only 1 of 3 options

    1. Pick up coloured Train card(s) - 1 of 2 options
      • Pick up 1 face up Wild (rainbow) train.
      • Pick up 2 train cards, either face up or from the draw stack face down (no face up wilds, face down Wilds are fine).
    2. Pick up 3 Destination tickets, keep at least 1, discard the rest
    3. Claim a Route
      • Pay the cost with same coloured trains and/or wilds.
      • Score points according to route length.
