Penang is a Malaysian state famous for George Town's street food, UNESCO heritage, and vibrant street art. It consists of Penang Island and the mainland portion Seberang Perai - connected together by two traffic bridges.
Here's a small collection of my photos in Penang, with a few notable tourist attractions.
The Streets of Penang
Armenian Street and Cannon Street in George Town are known for its street art and murals, and also the tourist crowds. If you're there during off-peak seasons, and during weekday working hours, it's a pleasant experience and great for taking photos or simply enjoying the sights, without the crowds.
The Clan Jetties
There are seven clan jetties in George Town, Penang: Chew, Tan, Jim, Lee, Yeoh, Ong, and "New" Jetty. They are a popular tourist attraction - the Chew Jetty is the most commercialised one with a few vendors around the entry, as well as through the jetty. Unfortunately, I did not visit every one of the jetties... but here's a few photos from the ones I did visit.
Penang Hill
A nice highlight of the trip was a hike up Penang Hill in Air Itam. It took us a few hours, and it can get pretty steep, but luckily we had an expert tour guide who got us through it. The expansive food court and the funicular train ride down as a reward was worth the effort. FYI you can also ride the funicular train up it, so hiking up is optional.
